Dresses - Mini Dresses

Fashion is cyclical and that is why some garments become a trend nowadays. The 60s revolutionized the way women dressed, a garment was born that socially meant breaking with old patterns to make way for the new: mini dresses. The style became informal but with a lot of color, during this period it was played with prints, figures and various designs.

The mini dress was introduced in the year of 1964, this garment was short and measured from 35 to 45 centimeters above the knee, becoming the symbol of empowerment of the time. Designers such as Mary Quant, Yves Saint Laurent, Andre Courreges and Pierre Cardin joined this new form of style, in the 90s the mini dress gained popularity again.

Mini dresses offer many styles, some of them have halter neck, loose or tight waist, short sleeves or bulging, satin or monochromatic. Mini dresses can be worn all year round with the right accessories, remember that it is a basic that you must have in your closet and with which you will look charming.

Mini Dresses

With each decade, there come a lot of things to love. Whether it’s music, films, or styles and fashion trends, there are just so many things I adore. Take the ‘60s, for example. Not only did the ‘60s truly pave the way for music and films, but the ‘60s helped pave the way for fashion trends as well.

Some popular ‘60s styles included go-go boots, tie-dye everything, and the classic mini dress. And not only were these adorable, short dresses popular back then, but they are just as popular now.

If you are into the mini dress trend, then you are in luck because these timeless dresses are not going out of style anytime soon!

Here are the mini dresses that I can’t stop dreaming about:

Daytime Mini Dresses

For a daytime look in the spring and summer, my first pick is usually the oh-so-lovely mini dress. These pieces are easy to throw on and accessorize, and you can wear any shoe with them — boots, pumps, or sandals

A dress like the Manuelita Mini Dress by Cindy Castro New York is the perfect feminine piece that would look great while you explore the city with your friends, host a picnic, or snap pictures for Instagram.

For an outfit to throw on and wear out to the grocery store or to grab a coffee, a basic T-Shirt dress like the Vestido Corto Dar from Sientochenta is your best bet. Paired with some sneakers or sandals, it’s easy to stay casual, cozy, and 100% news-breakingly chic.

Perhaps you have a daytime event like a bridal shower or a baby shower and want to wear a dress that’s not too dressy. If that’s the case, then I recommend a short blanket dress, like those from famed designer Paralia. I think her work shows the neutral color palette in a unique and daring way, all while remaining effortlessly comfortable.

If I have a daytime wedding on my itinerary, I might opt for something similar to the Padme Dress by Concepción Miranda or the Madeleine Dress from Pamela Stevenson. Either dress would look darling with some white pumps and fashion-forward jewelry. If there’s one thing I know to be true — an intentionally-placed accessory can refresh any ensemble.

Nighttime Mini Dresses

For a nighttime cocktail party, a dress like the Lilou Dress from designer Pamela Stevenson with a pair of red pumps would be the perfect option.

A little black dress is always a must in anyone’s closet, and the Cameron Cotton Dress by Cindy Cotton New York would make for a fun, flirty piece for a date night or an upscale dinner party.

Maybe you’re going out to dinner for a friend’s birthday at a fancy restaurant. What better option is there than the Claude Dress from Pamela Stevenson paired with some black pumps?

There are so many incredible options of mini dresses to choose from, and, fortunately, you will never have to worry about these wonderful pieces ever going out of style.
