Palmier, artisanal innovation that will take you to the beach
Meet Palmier, a brand of clothing and accessories inspired by the wonderful Mexican beaches, made from sustainable materials with artisanal techniques that combine the magic of summer with a timeless style.
Creating pieces that defy the passage of time in this era where trends are constantly changing is a challenge. That the garments are made with materials that do not harm our mother Earth and also keep alive the traditions of the artists who make them is a proposal that challenges the established. But for Stephania Sánchez, founder of Palmier, this is a mission that she was able to carry out thanks to her talent, passion and vision.
Palmier was born from the love and respect that its founder has for the sea. In 2019, she decided that one way to honor the affection she felt for the coasts of her native Baja California Sur was to create functional works of art, which will carry with them a touch of the sea breeze that she loves so much and, at the same time, they will elevate our wardrobes with a sustainable option to highlight our style.
What does Palmier mean and represent?
The name of the brand comes from French, as it means "Palm tree" in this language. Palm trees are a symbol that perfectly represents the spirit of the beach, but at the same time it tells us about the materials of these pieces, since most are made with palm fabrics, a natural and ecological component that must be treated with care to give the fine results that characterize all of Palmier's innovative designs.
The brand celebrates this creation process, because the only ones capable of making Palmier accessories are the Mexican artisans from the communities of Guerrero and Oaxaca, who have developed these techniques for decades, resulting in exclusive, sustainable pieces 100% handmade. In every detail you can see the dedication and effort with which they were created.
The challenge of creating something unique
Although the beach has been an inspiration for many artists, what Stephania was looking for went beyond the bags, accessories and dresses that are commonly used in this region. With his ingenuity and experience, he has developed innovative designs that challenge summer garments with a classic style that is easy to wear and represents all that the coast has to offer.
A clear example of this vision is the “Shells” collection, which takes the natural elements that give it its name and includes them in an avant-garde fashion in the hats, bandanas, bags and fans that make it up. As each mollusk is unrepeatable, they give the pieces a unique detail that brings the wearer of the garment closer to the immensity and richness of the sea.
A brand that cares about its community
Palmier seeks to improve the planet in different ways, and one of them is by supporting the people who surround her space of inspiration. Most of the dresses are made by local women from Baja California Sur, giving them a job opportunity that is rarely well paid. In addition, on the holidays, they allocate a percentage of their sales to buy blankets and make breakfasts for needy people who live on the streets or in neighborhoods with little access to these resources.
This brand seeks to expand into more areas of design, but always preserving its essence and prioritizing palm fabric as a creative material. They take into account the great work of the artisans and respect the principles of fair trade for the communities that carry out their works.
If you want to complement your wardrobe with a unique garment, friendly to the environment, responsible with its collaborators and with a timeless style, you can find all Palmier products at On Post. So you can enjoy the essence of the beach during all seasons.
