How to avoid dry lips in summer season

Heat and lack of water can damage the appearance of your lips and crack them. Find out how to avoid it to show off soft and moisturized lips in summer!

Summer is just around the corner and you are surely thinking about heat, cold drinks and the beach! Brilliant!

Although this is an amazing and fun-filled season, it also has some characteristics that can take a toll on your skin, and specifically your lips!

As you read it, the high temperatures of summer can dry out your lips, but don't worry! With our lip care tips you can keep them hydrated and very soft. Meet them all here!

Why does summer dry out our lips?

The lips have delicate skin that has little or almost no presence of sebaceous glands, which causes dryness in them since they do not have constant natural moisture.

This condition increases when summer arrives, as high temperatures and more intense sun rays cause the skin of the lips to dry and dehydrate more quickly, hence they take on a stiff appearance and cracks appear on them.

Similarly, sweating increases during the summer and with it the dehydration of the body, and if your body does not have enough water, the skin reflects it. Other causes of dry lips during this season are contact with chlorine in swimming pools, the habit of biting lips and smoking. All of them favor dryness and, in the most serious cases, the appearance of wounds and cracks.

The best tips to avoid dry lips in the summer season

Drink a lot of water: As we mentioned before, dehydration is one of the main factors why the skin of the entire body dries out, and the lips are no exception. For this reason, it is essential that you stay hydrated during the summer by drinking as much water as possible. With this habit you will avoid dry lips and you will also have more energy to enjoy your vacation!

Use lipsticks with sun protection: You may not be very familiar with this product, but there are several lipsticks that have sun protection, which protect your lips from intense UV rays. Use one with SPF +30 when you do outdoor activities or include it in your daily life to keep your lips hydrated and a dreamy smile. You'll love it!

Exfoliate your lips with sugar: Your lips can accumulate dead skin, which must be removed regularly to maintain a beautiful appearance and a smooth texture free of annoying flakes.

Home remedies for lips never go out of style, so exfoliate your mouth with brown sugar and honey once or twice a week. Make a small mixture of these two ingredients and rub it over your lips in circular motions until they feel smooth.

It is important that you know that exfoliation is not recommended when your lips are chapped, as you could aggravate the problem and hurt them with the friction of sugar.

Avoid licking and biting your lips

The summer heat can make your lips itchy or feel extremely slick, but you should still not lick or bite them because you will only hurt them.

Instead, we recommend applying a moisturizing balm to your lips that allows you to continue with your activities without any problem. Apply it several times during the day so that its effect is constant and their appearance is quickly improved.

With these lip care tips you are ready to go out and enjoy the summer without any problem! Say "Goodbye" to chapped lips and say "Hello" to your vacation fun.
